What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary therapy based on the principle that there are natural energy pathways which run through the body. All major organs, glands and systems of the body are linked by corresponding reflex points on the hands and feet.
Through application of pressure on these reflexes, primarily the feet, reflexology relieves tension, detoxifies, improves circulation, and activates the healing power of the body helping it to return to a state of balance.
Reflexology is more that just a remedy for unexpected aliments and sudden emergencies. It is a method for enhancing ordinary life by keeping you at the peak of your energies and creativity.
Who can benefit from reflexology?
Reflexology is a holistic therapy suitable for all ages, and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Reflexology has been shown to be affective for:
- stress related problems and depression;
- water retention;
- sinus problems;
- back pain;
- neck and shoulder problems;
- respiratory and digestive disorders.
What should I expect from a reflexology session?
Reflexology sessions usually last about an hour. You will sit in a reclining chair placing your feet conveniently for the reflexologist to work on. Sit back and relax. The reflexologist will methodically use pressure, stretch and movement to work through the whole foot and sometimes the hand. The treatment can be extremely relaxing and invigorating.
